Krissy V - For Richer or For Poorer

*This book contains adult themes
**Review by Susan
Have you ever wanted to leave your old life behind and start again? Do you feel like your friends are taking advantage of you and your situation? Do you ever feel like you don’t know if your friends are real friends or not?
Meg feels like no one wants her friendship for who she really is but for what she represents, so she makes the drastic decision to leave her family and friends behind and make a new start on the other side of the world.
Follow her as she meets new friends and makes new relationships based on her new life. What happens when her two lives collide? Will her new friends want to know the old Meg!

So "For Richer or For Poorer" is book five in the 'Till Death Do Us Part' Series and in true mad Susan style I have started with the last book in the series! Why? I hear you ask. Truthfully it wasn't intended. I've always heard a lot about Krissy Vs books but when we were asked to take part in her release day, Ladies Living in Bookland were honoured. I didn't however have the time to read the four previous books. However...the method in my madness has paid off! I adored this book and am already planning on downloading the previous four books as I'm a sucker for a good series and I get the feeling I've found another one!

So - enough about my crazy book reading style!

We meet Meg who has started out her life again in Bristol after moving from New York. Knew there must have been something juicy there...surely? But to no avail we hear how she forms new relationships, settles into her new job and meets a rather gorgeous man (because there always is a gorgeous man!).

Dillon and Meg fall hard and fast from their first meet, knowing they simply want to spend every waking minute together (although Meg's concerns about him being her superior she tries keeping the two separate).
On a trip away to New York the couples lives change instantly. Dhillon finds out that the woman he adored has been lying to him and he's devastated. We hear how Meg had come from a privileged upbringing, unlike Dillon despite his current success with business partner and best friend Caleb.  How she wanted to be completely unassociated with her previous life.  Because she didn't have any true friends or relationships she could count on there.
Fortunately the couple find one another on more levels than one and are able to move forwards. In fact the second love of Meg's life (art), becomes a real aspect in the story when her friends and family discover her real talent and she merges her talent from her life in New York and her present life in Bristol.

It's beautifully written and the couple are so physically intense it's a brilliant read. I couldn't put the book down until I knew Megs big secret and how it would all end....so Krissy has done her job wonderfully there! Well worth a read. Five out of five stars.

Midnight Bloom (The Lunar Eclipse Series) by Kristina Canady

*Contains adult themes
*Review by Susan

Forced to police the border between two worlds in an attempt at redemption, a cold and calculated Etienne has purposely constructed an organized existence that focuses on protecting the ignorant. A "chance" encounter with the outspoken and brazen Sasha Green unveils to him a connection that threatens to thaw his heart. Etienne and Sasha are about to be challenged to look beyond themselves and question everything they believe to be "fact" as their two worlds collide.

In this first novel of the Lunar Eclipse series, Sasha learns of the unusual hand that fate has dealt her and finds herself caught up in a battle between her moral compass and her innermost primitive desires. As she evolves into her predetermined role, she must question her fear against myth and weigh the value of the marriage she's committed to against the fulfillment of the path that an unknown force is pushing her to walk. How strong will Sasha be under its force, and will the profound connection between the two ultimately break her?

'Midnight Bloom' is the first book In the 'Lunar Eclipse Series' and is a book I went into without reading the blurb and I think it made it all the more magical for me.

I loved the cover and the title but honestly went into this book blind. I like doing that occasionally....you may come to know me for that!!

So we meet Sasha, a happily married, mother to twins boys and a settled if not rather "comfortable" relationship. She is happy, hardworking and strong willed. Her life is thrown upside down one evening upon meeting a family friend of one of her patients (on an awful night that could have led to something more sinister). Little does Sasha know he will tell her a little more than she can imagine about herself.

This handsome, electrifying stranger is called Etienne and the relationship they build over the course of the story is simply incredible. The things they share and go through together gives Sasha lots of unintended feelings towards this man and leaves her questioning what she really wants and needs. But is this to the cost of her family?

------------------------------
"I understand longing for something that you cannot have. I cannot have you because that is your choice, not mine. You could have me at any time, it is Impossible for me to deny you..."
------------------------------

Having not read a vampire book in some time (although with lots on my TBR list!) I did enjoy this although it took me a while to find my feet. Once I got in to it the reading was easy and enjoyable. Although on the final few chapters I was desperate to read more knowing what hard decisions she is left to make...bit of a cliffhanger! But I am keen on reading the next on the series to see where things go...

KA Hobbs - Doubt (The Connected Series #1)

*This book contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

Sophie and Doug have the perfect life. Both have respectable careers and their relationship is growing stronger every day. With work requiring Doug to travel, they spend many nights apart. Late night calls, feelings of secrets hanging in the air; will their relationship survive a ‘blast from the past’? Hurt, betrayal, love. Will Doug be forced to choose? Can Sophie see past the hurt and give Doug a chance to explain, for her to understand? Is their relationship strong enough to cope with the changes life has in store for them? Will they be able to move forward?

So I was lucky enough to win 'Doubt' from the lovely KA Hobbs at an event back in August and well I simply loved it.

'Doubt' is book 1 in the 'Connected Series' and that excited me as I love a good series. Knowing I can connect all the more with the character(s).

The story of Sophie and Doug starts as a beautiful and exciting (and steamy!) relationship. To say I have a crush on Mr Roberts is an understatement...I love him. He's genuine, considerate, thoughtful and romantic...and knows just what to do with a strawberry!

------------------------------
"Strawberries and Sophie. Ummmmmm, better than strawberries and cream."

------------------------------

What more could a woman ask for? Well, there is a bump in the road for the loved up couple...

------------------------------

"I needed to know how I felt about it before I got you involved. Total honesty Sophie, I promise. What is it that he had to get his head rains and why couldn't he have just told me?"
------------------------------

You see the couple grow as they tackle their issues head on and come out the other side stronger... I don't want to give anything away as it's such a fantastic story and I've been lucky enough to get a glimpse into book 2 of the Connected Series (more Doug ladies! Hands off!!!) and all I can say is you will see more, experience more and get hotter some more!!

So keep your eyes peeled or like the lovely KA Hobbs on Facebook to keep up with her new release "Assured" (book 2 in the connected series). I for one can't wait to get the review for that one up!

Discovering Alex by Sam McCarthy

*This book contains adult themes
**Review by Stacey

A chance meeting with a handsome stranger was about to turn Alex's world upside down.
How would she ever cope with her own guilt?
Feeling like a real life Cinderella she embarks on her journey of discovery, but would she like where she ended up?
Or the choices she would have to make along the way?

When I heard Discovering Alex was going to be released, I was so excited and after reading some teasers I couldn't wait to read the full book. It did not disappoint.

The main character, Alex, draws you in right away with the journey she is going through at that time in her life. I really managed to connect and identify with her throughout, especially at one point when she thought she was going to embark on a similar journey to one that I went on. She had me in tears before I was even half way through.

Tom, now what can I say about Tom? He is just dreamy and I fell head over heels in love with him. He is my current favourite book boyfriend; if anybody doesn't fall in love with them, then there must be something wrong with you! He is the perfect gentleman, in more ways than one...

All in all Discovering Alex is a journey of emotions; happiness, sadness, joy, torment; it is bound to have you crying at one point or another. It is just a wonderful book of a beautiful, exciting, raunchy love story and a definite must read.
