Jessica Florence - Weighing of the Heart (Of The Heart, #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

The more I see the less I know for sure- John Lennon.

After living in peace for twenty five years Thalia Alexander’s life is about to change.

A black hair, grey eyed, sexy man shows up in her dreams, and then in reality. He looked like trouble with a capital T, but she couldn’t stay away. Something inside her called out for him.

Tristan Jacks is intense, and has a possessiveness for Thalia that she doesn’t understand. They just met, but it would seem like she has known him a lot longer.

Those strange dreams continue to stalk Thalia as her relationship with Tristan builds to be an epic love for the ages.

What do those dreams mean to her? Is Tristan the sexy, sweet, bad ass man he claims?

And when secrets are revealed will she be able to handle the truth?

So, Weighing of the Heart was a cover I had seen and heard of through the book world but honestly didn't know what to expect and having not read the blurb...I went in!

So we meet Thalia, the main leading lady on her 25th birthday. We recognise that she has a good job she adores, nice apartment and the best friend she could ask for in Leander. But there was room for a man in her life, right?! Of course she would bump into the handsome stranger - who she couldn't help but feel more than the usual pull towards.

My life was good. I had the best friend anyone could ask for, and the best boyfriend anyone could want.

But since meeting him, and even before meeting the handsome Tristan, she dreamt and dreams of him. But what does it all mean?

I know your falling for Tristan...
But I wanted to warn you.  He isn't who he says he is.  You should stay away

From warning, to dreams of Egypt, gods and arranged marriages...where did she fit into it all?  Her confusion grows...

Everything will happen as it is meant to.  In the meantime, just enjoy life, and love with all of your heart.  Love is the most powerful force in the world.

Tristan loves her, undoubtedly. With his support, love and guidance, alongside her good friends she would discover more about herself than she ever imagined. These dreams would mean much more than she ever imagined.

My heart, body, and soul will airways being to you...He had the face of an angel.

But of course it wasn't all going to be straightforward. Someone who also knows of her history would literally come back with a vengeance. But would Tristan be able to find her?

You were always meant to be mine. Then he stole you from me. You and I were made for each other. It was decided by the fates.

God the cliffhanger is killing me! But I can't wait to see what direction the next book takes.
At one point I couldn't help but call it pink and was just all too good to be true but the last 30% when the answers began to come out about Thalia's history I really enjoyed it. I think it's a good basis for the rest of the books! I can't wait to read more!

3.5/4* rating

Krissy V - Sunshine at Christmas

**Review by Susan

Follow the Sunshine Girls as they go gallivanting on the Austrian mountains.
As always, with these ladies, the fun starts at the airport ...

We follow them as they learn to ski and manoeuvre the slopes ...
Along with the local heartthrobs they have for ski instructors ...
Will they take the meaning of ‘On the piste’ literally?

Who will lose their heart in Austria?

What trouble will our girls get
themselves into this time?

Stay tuned!

Step aboard the Sunshine tour!
Take a seat and lose yourself in Sunshine’s world!

I was so excited about a Christmas story with the girls...and this time we were travelling to Austria, right there with them the entire way.
Sunshine, India, Molly, Kat, Arianna and Sydney have their usual hilarious antics from broken suitcases to over indulging with flithy named cocktails and skiing lessons with a hunk! Because there has to be a guy right? We even get a brief look back to Sunshine's man, Xavier and his romantic gestures as met in the first book of the Sunshine Tours series!

Cole, the ski instructor and Arianna instantly feel a connection together. But between Arianna's commitments at home and Cole's job involving so much moving around they try to keep in mind this can only be a weekend romance.

Sunshine as ever, mummy of the group worries about Arianna getting hurt...

I worry about her fledging relationship with Cole......I haven't seen her looking at a man the way she looks at him. I will have to have a chat with her later today.

As the pair struggle with considering their goodbyes I'm waiting patiently on their happily ever after....but it seems impossible...cue my stomping feet Teehee.

I can't believe I am begging, you've just barged your way into my heart and I'm not ready to let you go yet.

But a misunderstanding would see Ariana leaving without a backwards glance. But with Christmas looming she has to move on. Or does she?

A brilliantly festive and lighthearted short story with the continuation of the Sunshine tours. I am already beyond excited for the next book in this series due next year....Sunshine in Amsterdam!
Krissy V has once again delivered a fresh, fun and giggle filled story for all to enjoy.

LA Cotton - Lucky Penny

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan & Stacey

I was his lucky Penny. He was my light in the dark, hope in despair. Our bond was one of survival, friendship... first love.

But then we were ripped apart and Blake Weston became the memory I turned to when everything else in my life fell apart.

Seven years later, a summer working at Camp Chance is supposed to be my fresh start. Beautiful scenery and the chance to better the lives of foster children - kids like me. But when my eyes land on him across the fire, time stands still and feelings come rushing back to the surface. I thought I'd moved on, tucked him away in my heart. One look into his soulful blue eyes and I know I'm wrong. Blake Weston can heal the broken parts of me. Restore my hope. Love me.

It's our second chance. A sign we are supposed to be together.

Isn't it?

I was twelve when I survived the accident that killed my parents. Fourteen when I survived the devil. And sixteen, when I survived a heartbreak of the worst kind.

But in my twenty-three years, Blake Weston might just be the first thing I won't survive.

"one summer, a lifetime of possibilities"

What a truly haunting story as we are thrown into the dual perspectives of Penny and Blake. Their bond although instant, would be forever more. Their time in foster care would push our characters until all they could think about was their freedom and escaping together when they were legally able to.

You're my lucky Penny.  With you by my side, we can survive anything.

But the turmoil and unexpected circumstances Blake and Penny find themselves facing would not allow them their happy ending when expected....

...I knew better than to believe in second chances.  Life was hard and cruel and full of disappointment....
But my heart wanted to believe there was a reason for this.

A book based around never forgetting or losing sight of your first love, overcoming every obstacle to be together and fighting for their freedom right until the very end. Their meh deserved happiness!

A true heartbreaker and putter-back together story that never has a dull moment. I was constantly surprised at the directions LA Cotton pulled me down on this reading journey and I adored every second.  Her writing style between past and present, of recollected memories was so brilliantly done and I never felt lost or confused.

Brilliant story, brilliant characters, brilliant ending....just brilliant! Another corker from LA Cotton!

One single event didn't change me; it was series of intertwined incidents, and one way or another, Blake was a part of them all.
He was the other half of my soul.

I was really excited to read this standalone from L A after reading her Chastity Falls series.

Lucky Penny introduces a new host of characters and I warmed to Penny & Blake immediately during the prologue. Their story from the start was heartbreaking and it continued the whole way through, L A wrote the circumstances of their relationship and finding each other again so, so well.

I did have leaky eyes reading this, you know, just when you think everything is  starting to come together it all falls apart again and you are so upset because you were dying for it to happen! My husband said "It's a book, why are you crying?"... They don't understand!

A single tear formed in the corner of my eye and rolled down my cheek.
And just like that, Blake Weston pieced together the broken parts of me, all while tearing them back down.
For the second time in my life.

I liked the dual POV but that it was different, with Blake's dotted through the book starting from right back when they met in foster care heading right to the present day. To see the love and relationship from both angles.

I didn't dare look at him. I wanted to cry, to let the tears building behind my eyes fall. I wanted to smile at him, to share this moment with him. But most of all, I wanted to lean into him and show him that I felt them same. That after all this time, my heart still remembered him.

The course of true love never runs smooth and it certainly didn't for Penny & Blake, but you will have to read to see if they got their HEA! 5* from me, really loved this.

Jaye Cox - Unexpected Consequences (Love is not enough, #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

This is an updated cover edition

"He is my weakness"

"Just one look from him was enough to make me lose my resolve and do things I usually wouldn't. He might say he is not a good guy, if only he could see himself the way I do. Even if being with him came with consequences."

Isabella Preston's life was perfect, until the day she met Rayne Hollywood. He came into her life like a tornado - his world moved so fast that she loved it, she felt free to be the person she really was and not the perfect person everyone expected. Is she strong enough for everything that is Rayne Hollywood?

"She is my strength"

"She is the reason there is light in my darkness, the strength I need to live. Seeing myself through her eyes gives me hope, that I deserve more in life. Finding her was unexpected.

Rayne Hollywood was set on revenge and he was ready to do anything he had to do to get it. He didn't care about anyone he had to hurt in the process - until he saw Isabella Preston. She wasn't part of the plan, but he wanted her. The only question was could he get the revenge he came here for and still keep the girl he always wanted?

When you fall in love so fast, is love really enough to get you through all the secrets and lies?

Maybe love is not enough.
*Can be read as a standalone*

So, another blinder for Susan here.  No idea what to expect but the story of Isabella and bad boy Rayne had me hooked. The deep and secretive man who were both falling for one another from their first meet... Despite his warning, Isabella could not keep away from him.

I don't believe he is as bad as he thinks he is as I can see a good guy who just thinks he is no good.

As the pair get closer and their feelings grow we gradually learn about the pair. They let each other in emotionally, but for a nineteen year old girl I was blown away at the character, Isabella and her maturity. I loved her and her heart on her sleeve attitude...

It will always be me standing here beside you, always and forever. If you push me away, I'll chase you until you're willing to catch me again. Just remember, I'm only human, Rayne. If I need to leave, I'll always come back to you, and I will love you with everything I have until the last beat of my heart.

But Rayne has a past that she only hopes he will let her in on. In time. But this would take a disastrous turn of events when she finds out what Rayne gets up to when he sneaks out. Would it truly break her and the feelings they have for each other?

Help me understand why this is how it has to be.
I just don't know how to do this.  I keep thinking if I keep loving him then he'll realize he's loved and that will be enough, but maybe loving him isn't enough; it's just all I have.

With Isabella feeling abandoned by her one true love, she breaks down but also develops a new friendship, with none other than Rayne's brother...he truly would be her lifeline during her darkest hours and beyond...

...I am no longer their perfect Isabella.
He ruined that for me and I want to hate him for it, but I can't. I love him.

But the pair have some heartache ahead of them and once Isabella, Rayne's "Tiny Dancer" learns of the truth as well as the 'Unexpected consequence' would she be able to let him back in after the lies and heartache? The boy is a charmer, but a romantic one at that. Oh, ladies he's awesome not only with the romantic words but actions too! Book boyfriend material here!

You're the rainbow after my storm, the light to my darkness. You complete me, Tiny Dancer - I will love you forever and even then I will find a way to keep on loving you.

Despite Isabella's strive for perfection, throughout their first year together, learning, loving, forgiving and mending, this incredible pair have a future beyond recognition. But the love, heartache, home truths and friendships make this a truly awe inspiring read that I couldn't put down.

...for the first time I'm happy to accept it's not perfection. I'm okay with all our imperfections, we're perfectly imperfect together.

Chele Cooke - Teeth: The First Bite (Teeth #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

Medical intern Thomas awakes in a blood-drenched basement and the realisation that his life must change forever. After all, how can he practise medicine when the smell of blood turns him into a vicious killer?

Spencer thinks being a vampire is better than any teen movie made it out to be. Now he must train Thomas and make his mentor proud.

One mistake risks more than either are willing to lose, and a single broken law could turn them from predators to prey.

The story of Thomas finding himself in a dire situation he has no clue about had me gripped from the first page. A situation which would lead to him being sired by a vampire of one of the oldest females, Cleo, would make him the newbie vampire on the block.

The relationships of those mourning and adjusting to life without Cleo, see the relationships between the male vampires...

“This was my fault,” he murmured, crouching next to her. “I should have acted. We’d been talking about it for so long, and I always wanted one more year. Just one more year to make sure everything was in place. I should have seen that the years were killing you.”

They had both spent most of their lives shackled by a connection to a woman who now lay in pieces next to them. If they couldn’t laugh, they’d probably end up killing each other.

With a lot of learning and realisations ahead of him. Spencer takes him under his wing and shows him the ropes.

Spencer - “Turning? No, that’s already done,” Spencer grinned. “I’m here to teach you how to be good at it.”

But Spencer's relationship with August complicates matters...

That man was not his August, the one who tormented and teased him. It was not the friend who had helped him through his transformations or the lover who had lain in bed with him until the moon rose. The pain that shot through his chest was nothing to do with fear. It was empty, cold, and entirely consuming. Somehow, even though he’d never felt it when he was alive, he knew that pain was grief.

The story of siring, vampire rules, blood and gore, but above all that; loyalties...

“Loyalty is a funny thing. We both know that. It is far more dangerous than it is helpful.”

A well written story but one I struggled to connect with on a few of the characters. But I think it has a good start to a series I am keen to read more about. A gripping vampire read, that I flew through!

Mia Hoddell - Not Enough

*Contains adult themes (suicide)
**Review by Susan

Neve Colvin isn’t good enough. As an introvert, her life is a never-ending list of labels and criticism. Pressures to change come from everyone—including the one person she thought would love her unconditionally … her mother. All Neve wants is acceptance, but surrounded by extroverts it’s a wish that’s nearly impossible to fulfil.

For Neve there’s only one solution: anyone disapproving must go. Even if it means only one person will remain.

That person is her lifelong friend Blake Reynolds. He’s seen the fights with her mum, the breakdowns caused by attacks on her personality, and the battles for acceptance. Each time she is left shattered and questioning who she is, he’s the one to collect the pieces of her broken heart. Shielding her from the cruelty is his only concern. But how can he protect her when Neve is concealing a secret so dark?

Blake thinks he knows everything about her, and with their relationship developing, he assumes Neve trusts him fully. However, there is one memory Neve is too ashamed of to share. Revealing it will test Blake’s loyalty beyond what she could ever ask, and Blake is the only friend she can’t afford to lose. He’s the one person capable of dragging her from the darkness plaguing her, but with pressures to conform increasing, even Blake may not be enough to pull her back this time

Neve and Blake have known one another since they were babies. But being so entirely different was what lead them to be the very best of friends.

But Blake's upbringing was entirely different to Neve's. He has a warm and welcoming family whereas Neve's mother was a real piece of work...

A person can take a lot of verbal abuse, but there's always a limit.
Everyone breaks.
Everyone crumbles.

Their relationship was complex and what sometimes read as teenage angst turned out to be nothing more than lack of acceptance and non existent maternal love for Neve. A single child with no father to depend on.

Why is everything I do not good enough?  Why is who I am not enough for you?

The one person she has always been able to depend on is Blake. Childhood friends...but would they ever be more? Irrelevant, Blake would be by her side, when no one else would. He helps her through her darkest moments and picks up the pieces when Neve's mother breaks her on almost every occasion...

There's nothing more I want than for my mum to look me in the eye and say she's proud of me. That's it. I don't care if she never says she loves me, but to know she accepts me for who I am...well, it would mean everything.

A heartbreaking read that sometimes had me close to tears but all in all a good story which for me means that blood isn't always thicker than water and that we can't choose our family. With dual perspectives we get a good basis and I loved Mia Hoddell's writing and her descriptiveness of some of Neve's darker memories.

A brill HEA and would definitely recommend.

C.A. Ellis - The Vine (Entwined in the Vine #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

My Life used to be great. I was happy, full of energy, and most importantly, loved.
From the day I was born, my family were everything to me: until tragedy struck.
Since losing them, I don’t love and I don’t trust; that way, I don’t get hurt.
My breath left my body on a soul-changing gasp when I encountered him, and it’s yet
to stabilize. In him, I have found the glue to mend my broken heart; he makes me feel
complete. There is no doubt I love him, trust him and know he won’t ever intentionally
hurt me. Now, I could lose him. I could lose everything. And this time, I know I will
struggle to recover.
Welcome to the battle for my life.

I work hard. It’s the only life I know. I care about my family, but no one else. Certainly,
there are women, but I don’t do love or commitment, and I definitely don’t believe in
‘the one’.
My world tilted on its axis when it happened, when this girl came crashing into my
world, changing my life for the better and making me undoubtedly aware that my life
would never be the same again. I’ve fallen in love and want commitment because I
have met ‘the one’.
My life is now complete. Unfortunately, with a tragic twist of fate, I could lose her—my
everything—but I will never give up, not without a fight.
Welcome to the fight of my life.

The story of Lizzy is one of pure sadness and heartache as she loses her parents far too young and struggles with their deaths daily. Her best friend Katy would take her under her wing and be her ever constant support. A true friend who is by her side, night or day. Their relationship was endearing.

But Lizzy soon bumps into the man who will change her life. Who will take away some of that pain, but for how long? The love story between Lucas and Lizzy is simply beautiful and one all us girls crave, rightly or wrongly. His adoration for Lizzy is ever present and so beautifully written.

But Lizzy is well aware that she doesn't get happily ever afters, and her happiness is cruelly cut short one night, after organising a very romantic weekend away to one of Lizzy's more prized places in the world. This man truly knows how to treat a lady. But a tragic accident would leave the pair in utter turmoil and Lizzie heartbroken at the prospect of losing someone else she had taken so long to let into her life, and heart.

"Nothing matters. I'm not aware of anything except the constant searing pain in my chest."

God get the Kleenex out.  In fact, I ran out of tissues and opted for an entire toilet roll, because I was sobbing uncontrollably and reading through tear filled eyes by this stage (and only at 50% may I add!) but wow. What a story. Lizzy does what she can, without meaning to be heartless, only to do what she needs to. It's self preservation. Please don't judge this poor woman!

The sun will not shine in my life, as you were my sun,
The moon will not light my night, as you were my moon,
The Stars will not accept my wishes, as you were my stars,
My heart will not love again, as you are my heart...

But after Lizzy leaves in a frantic hurry, turning to the one place she should have gone with the love of her life, she would create a new life. No one would know the pain she carried. That was how she needed it to be. But needless to say, at home, things were changing, people would search for her. Would the diagnosis of her true love change for the better? Would her best friend know where to find her?
Whilst all this continues, Lucas Castle's crazy ex has a whole other agenda and this is to ruin the pair.
What is left of Lizzy to destroy?

Hate is a very strong word, but I hate myself for not being strong...I'm a coward who doesn't deserve kindness...

In times of turmoil and heartache, all caused by this evil woman, would there be a future for Lizzy. Would she ever find happiness again in her life?!

I'm beyond defeated.  I'm f*****g crushed.  I stand up and walk out of the alleyway. I put my hands in my pockets, take one more look back at the club and then brokenly, I bend my head and I just keep walking.

The psychotic ex not only manages to ruin two peoples lives, who have already loved and lost enough, but makes poor Lizzy question her only solid and dependable relationship she has with Katy.
Shock Rams back into me. It's Katy-normally my saviour and my friend, only today, she's the enemy.

I always like to leave spoiler free reviews, but wow. What a happily ever after this book promises. I cried, I laughed, I screamed, I threw things across the room and I used more tissues than ever (as well as a toilet roll!) but wow...this book truly captured my heart and I can't believe it's taken me so long to,read C.A. Ellis works. I can't wait to read the next installment Jetson, but it has a hard act to follow! :)

It's simple; I breathe to love you

C L Bentham - Finding the Star

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

At the age of fourteen, Jessica Tunney’s world crumbled. Waking from a coma, after a road traffic accident involving her and her dad, she was told he had not survived it and she never got to say goodbye. He was everything to Jessica. His name was her first words, he taught her to ride her bike, made her knee better when she fell over and told her how to deal with her very first break up. But there was one thing that she would always remember, something that came to her whilst waking from her coma; the song Twinkle Twinkle little star, the song her dad would always sing to her. Each time he would tell her that her mam was his Twinkle star, and that one day in her future she would find her star. Missing her dad and with that on her mind, Jessica became all childlike, disruptive and lost. When her original search didn’t work she then became sexually active, she craved the attention of men, trying to feel some kind of connection; trying to find her own star. Now at the age of twenty five and working at her local supermarket, she is still trying to find what she is looking for, sometimes disastrous, sometimes humorous. But there is one man she craves, an actual real life star, a TV star…Brendon Bratt. But does being with Seth come with consequences, his past, other influences, his career, Brendon…her heart? Jessica’s heart broke when she lost her dad, could Seth be the next one to do it? Or after her search of finding the star, has she finally found him?

***Due to some sexual scenes and mature language, this book is recommended for readers 18+. Adult Romance.***

Jessica is one incredibly strong and brave young woman. Having lost her father far too soon. She ventures after the one man she believes to be the the love of her life. Her star. But this turns out to be the worst decision ever. Brandon - however only use that arrogant, egotistical man would be use for would be leading Jessica to Seth. Her true star.

You know what I see in front of me?  A beautiful, young woman, who for no fault of her own got caught up in the world of liking a celebrity, it happens and it is usually down to the actor...

As the pair learn one another, and struggle to gain some normality in the world of celebrity...

I would like to find the one, not someone who just wants to be with me because of my status, someone who, when I am away, I get through it with a smile knowing I will get to see them at the end of it. They want me for me, I want to be attracted to them in every way...

The true love story between the pair as they develop their pure love for one another is nothing short of brilliant. The sheer bliss of their affections for one another was clear to see and feel.

My heart was skipping beats...was this me finding my Prince Charming? Finding my Star? Oh not again, I really don't want to be wrong again.

But after a run in from Seth's co-star and Jessica's one bad decision, would the pair be able to cling onto a future after the newspapers would scrawl Jessica's lust for the world to see? Seth decides it's time to leave. That he can't live up to the pedestal he has been put on. By this stage I was a bawling mess!

When I'm with you, I don't know, it just feels like I have to take on the world single handedly...I don't think I am the star in that song you have been trying to find...

An amazing story with an incredible ending but I won't divulge here!  poiler free reviews but I can tell you this is a must read. I am officially a massive fan of C L Bentham's!

T A McKay - Into the Fire (Into The Series #3)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

Noah Cole has it all.

The high profile job, money and a beautiful fiancé.
There’s only one problem. He doesn’t want any of it. When he imagined life he didn’t see this, he saw happiness in the arms of the only girl who ever held his heart. She wasn’t the one who got away, she was the one he chased away.

His best friend. His soul mate.

Madison Leigh remembers the day she met Noah. He walked into her life full of charm and sexiness, and he crushed her without even trying. Walking away was one of the hardest things that she's ever had to do, especially since all she wants now is him.

Now years later they are friends, sticking by each other through thick and thin. But when one of their worlds come crashing down, changing everything they thought they knew, will there still be a place for them in each others life? Or will it become too hard to hold on to each other?

Will life get better for them, or will it be like leaping from the frying pan...

Into The Fire.

So out of T. A. Mckay's series, I have to admit this is my all time favourite. The cheeky but stubborn Noah Cole is engaged, but not to the love of his life. The other female in his life holds a flame that no one will come close to...but after a weekend away, with Noah seeing the signs of his deteriorating relationship we see things change between the best friends Noah and Madison...

I think just lost my heart to my best friend

The inner torment that Noah faces as he battles his head over heart...not knowingly falling for his once true love as teenagers becomes apparent once again. He was so concerned at making everyone else happy, his own emotional and physical needs only became apparent when he noticed what everyone else already knew.

My feelings about Madison have always been confusing, there's always been that special connection that I can't explain...there has been the undercurrent of something else...

But a drunken night out would lead the pair into one another's arms. With consequences for everyone involved. But would Noah be able to let go of his life in London or do what everyone had hoped and follow his heart?

...I'm sorry I've put him in this position.  His arms tighten around me and I allow myself to get lost in him one last time.  I know that things are about to change, I can feel it.

A truly brilliant and hilarious read between the banter with his brothers and good friends as Noah figures out what direction he wants his life to take. I could have banged their heads together by the end but his friends as well as Madison's did that for me ;)

Well written, hot and steamy beyond belief, and a roller coaster of emotions. From sheer frustration, to heartbreak, back to pure unadulterated love for the main characters and their friends. I'm sorry to see the end of this series but it really tied things up nicely for all the characters.

"Angel, I never claimed to do things normally..."

A truly brilliant five star book that I couldn't put down and flew through in one sitting.

T A McKay - Into the Dark (Into The Series #2)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

Don’t hate the player … hate the game.
Have fun. Never settle.
Those are the very words that Mason McIntyre has lived by for most of his adult life.
The single life is the one he craves. The one that suits him.
A different girl in his bed each weekend, with no ties. It’s the only way to be.
But, what will happen when he finally meets a girl who dares to say no?
What will happen when the challenge of that one unobtainable girl becomes something else?
What will happen when the player finally gets played?

Niamh Knight doesn’t like players, especially ones who have slept with most of her friends. A pretty face doesn’t impress her, but when that pretty face becomes connected to a man who won’t give up his fight for her, how long will she be able to keep her guard up?
She tries to stay away, tries not to fall for his charm. But, will the player finally win his prize?

Both are faced with a challenge. One like they’ve never faced before.
Can the player finally settle down with only one girl? And, can that girl trust the player?
They know one thing for certain. It’s like the blind leading the blind … Into The Dark.

Mason McIntyre is a cocky, egotistical, over confident twenty something. But boy do you just end up loving him. Despite his sleeping around you can't help but laugh at this incredibly cheeky chappy.

After reading T A Mckays first book recently and only getting a brief glimpse into Mason it was really nice to get his perspective. Fill in the gaps of time with the last story, while giving us an insight into his life, his desires, and quite simply his ways with the ladies ;)

"The only thing that bears a drunken numbness is finding your happiness being balls deep in a hot woman. Smiling to myself, I grab my body wash and get ready to find the happiness I need."

But it's not just Mason we meet in this story. The girl who knocks his sock off and turns his world upside down; Niamh. This brilliant young woman is just what he needs. The one woman who turns him down, makes him doubt himself and his ways and simply won't leave Mason's head from the moment they meet.

"I don't know if it's the wine or just the reaction I have to this man, but my body temperature rises and I feel my heart trying to burst out my chest...this Mason knocks that Mason out of the water a thousand times over."

But when the chance arises for the pair to connect will it only be physical? The consequences will be life changing and might this be what finally makes Mason change his womanising ways?

A really good read...But it took me longer to connect to than the first book. But definitely well worth the tears and tissue overload towards the end.
4* rating!

#FosterAnAuthor - Nicole Storey with Ladies Living in Bookland

#FosterAnAuthor Week - week commencing 19th October 2015
Our week with Nicole Storey

With the help of the brilliant JoandIsalovesbooks the #FosterAnAuthor idea was put into place and those lovely ladies pulled off a massive (and we think bloody brilliant!) idea!

A blog is randomly selected an author to promote, however they choose.
Ladies Living in Bookland were the proud foster blog to Nicole Storey!

We have done a spotlight of all her books on our Facebook page, an author bio and also an interview to get to know the lovely lady herself...

Here's how it went:

INTERVIEW - with Nicole Storey

1.  Hi Nicole, thank you for being our Fostered Author for Ladies Living in Bookland! So excited to have met you and you're a new author to us, so could you tell us a little bit about yourself and where you're from?

Thanks so much for adopting me this week. I'm honored to be hosted on your amazing blog!
I'm from a small, armpit-of-nowhere town in Georgia in the US. I'm the mother of two amazing kids (one with autism and Tourette's) and wife to a wonderful hubby. :) When I'm not writing, I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, and I celebrate Halloween all year long. LOL!

2.  What genre of books do you write and why did you decide to go into that particular genre?

I write middle-grade fantasy and young adult urban fantasy. All of my books have a supernatural feel to them. I guess the reason why is because I've always been fascinated by things that can't be explained or go bump in the night. My favorite past time when I was young was reading, so I try to write books I think kids will enjoy without talking down to them. I tackle tough questions and topics I think young adults today deal with, but may be too afraid to voice.

3.  How many books do you have published and when did you first release your first book?

I have five books published. My first book was released by a small press "publisher" (and I use that word lightly) in 2011. I republished in 2013.

4.  Which author(s) do you aspire to be as good as or gave you the inspiration to get into the author world?

Wow, tough question. There are many Indie authors I've had the honor to befriend who take me on beautiful adventures with every book they write. Laurie Boris, Leland Dirks, Fred Limberg ... I could go on for hours. If I become half the author they are, I think I could finally be content with my writing.

5.  What is your favourite book of all time? I know it's a mean question! Pick a few if you like!

The first book I ever fell in love with was The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. My second favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I've read those books so many times I can recite entire passages.

6.  Do you currently have any works in progress or new releases coming up? Can you tell us about them?

I'm working on the fourth book in my Grimsley Hollow series, The Longest Days of Night. A reader once described this series as the only one where being autistic makes you a hero. The main character was fashioned
from my son. It's about a young, autistic boy who discovers a magical, Halloween-type world that's in peril. His autism gives him special powers, and because of this, he is the only one who can save Grimsley Hollow.

7.  For fun! Tell us something no one else can be completely crazy or random.

At night, when I'm lying in bed, I tell myself what I'm going to dream about. LOL! Sometimes, it even works.

8.  What is the most difficult/emotional scene you've ever had to write?

The most difficult scene I've taken on was a semi-sexual scene in Refracted (The CeladonCircle Book 2). I don't read a lot of romance, and have always imagined anything I attempted to write in the romantic sense would read like a SNL skit.
After the release of Blind Sight, readers begged me for a bit of love between my characters, and I always aim to please – within limits. I don't think I did too poorly. At least, no one's complained yet. :)

The most emotional scene I've written was the death of one of my characters from the same book. It's amazing how attached we become to those who live in between pages.

9.  Off topic for a moment....Who is your man crush?

Jensen Ackles from the t.v. show, Supernatural. He's the only man I'd leave my husband for! Ha-ha!

10.  Lastly, have you ever attended any signings or do you plan to this year or next?! Can any of our fans keep a watchful eye out for you anywhere?

I do plan on setting up a few signings in the coming year. I announce all information on my website/blog, including cool contests, giveaways, discounted prices, promos, and new releases. I'd love to have readers sign up! Here's the link for anyone interested:

Can I just take a minute to thank JoandIsalovesbooks for all the hard work and time put into this huge event and generally tell them how brilliant a job they have done whilst dealing with so many authors and bloggers. You girls rock!!

Also to our fostered author, Nicole Storey for bearing with me on the lead up to this as I think we were both finding our feet a little (but we made it!) and you have been a pleasure to work with and an honour to meet - thank you!
