KA Hobbs - Unexpected

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan & Stacey

Harry is all about the three F's - fun, freedom and females. Deciding to go see the world while he has no responsibilities, He wants to see as much of the world as he can, experience life and the many delectable women it has to offer. Then he meets Megan, a blonde Angel who turns his world upside down and changes not only how he thinks, but what he wants. Then a decision is made and their seemingly solid relationship cracks. Can Harry get Megan back? Or was it too late? Find out in book four in The Connected Series.

Unexpected is book four in the Connected Series (or as I like to call it, Harry's book!).
Harry is yet another of KA Hobbs boys that I officially adore. I think the is the character who starts his journey and grows the most. Leaving home, for his travels, he leaves as a cocky, single, feisty, filthy mouthed, sexy as hell young man. But his travels happen and he returns a man, with more eye opening experiences, more love and more SEX!

This cocky twenty something Harry is all about the sex. He chats any woman up (well most!)...he's simply hilarious. But he's not sleazy with it. However his "playing" days would be numbered upon meeting a girl...the girl who would push his limits, emotionally, physically and everything inbetween.

"I lock eyes with Megan...She was wearing another was black, with floaty sleeves that showed her arms. It was short and it was clinging to every curve...She was a fucking Goddess. And those fucking heels were back. God help me."

Megan brings a new side to Harry. Not to mention the sexy as hell side we already knew existed!
Steam meter officially off the charts here.

“Watching you, feeling you, tasting you,” he closes his eyes and when he opens them again they are dark and hooded, “Sexiest thing I’ve ever seen or experienced.”

But on a serious note, I adore Harry. He's hot, sweet and grows the hell up in this book.  He leaves a man and grows into a man. Learning about relationships and how to treat a girl (outside of the bedroom!). His journey of life ends in love, but would he get his happily ever after?

"He is in every corner of my life right now. And now he had left me. Gone thousands of miles away. I was alone and broken and I had no one to blame but myself for not talking to him". (Megan)

"I feel like half of me is missing, and it’s the important half. It’s the half that allows me to breathe without pain. To smile without thinking. To laugh from the pit of my stomach. It’s all gone and I want it back. I want her back." (Harry)."

Harry makes a decision that will rock not only his own world but Megan's too. The trust that their relationship had been built on would be questioned and would it be repairable? From thousands of miles away from one another could time or distance mend their hearts?Or would they be able to repair the damage?

I've got to leave you with my favourite and least excerpt from Harry's book....

“To love someone is to make yourself vulnerable. You’re saying to the other person, here is my heart, I trust you with it, when how can you really trust one person with something"

A truly incredible book....Harry is bloody incredible and just when I think the series can't possibly get any DOES! Another incredible five star read from KA.

I was so excited when I heard that Harry was going to have a book all of his own! I'd already grown accustomed to him on our first meeting but I had a feeling things were going to dirtier...and boy was I right! Unexpected starts with Harry arriving on his travels in Australia and as soon as he gets there, yes, he's having sex. But goodness, it is HOT - like ten chillies hot!

It's not all about the sex with Harry though - well, it was - but that all changes when he meets Megan (with extra sex of course). Before that, he was totally carefree but he meets a special lady who totally changes his attitude to relationships and love. But then two huge decisions are made and they could change the course of their relationship, unless they decide to fight for it... And fight they will.

"To love someone is to make yourself vulnerable. You're saying to the other person, here is my heart, I trust you with it, when how can you really trust one person with something so vital to your survival?"

I have to say, I loved all of the main characters in this book, they were just so much fun - totally relate-able too.

This is a book I could easily read again and again - it's laid back, and a different read to the others in The Connected Series.

Five stars from me.

Leigh Stone - Melodic Minor (Belfast Bound Novella #1)

**Review by Susan

They say the course of true love never runs smooth, and that’s certainly been the experience for Alex and Mel. Fear drove them away from each other, and tragedy almost torn them apart forever.

In a continuation of the love affair between Alex and Melody, we join the pair right where Lex’s Melody left off, and this time we get to hear the tale through their own words in this first person narrative.

What does fortune now hold for the lovers, can they settle down and have the future together that they both deserve, or will old fears be renewed and threaten to pull them apart again? Only time will tell!

Alex and Mel continue their story from Leigh Stones first book (Lex's Melody) and shows us how the pair are growing together. Learning, loving and learning more about one another.
Also their relationships with friends and families as the couple spend their first Christmas together. Their love for one another all the more apparent.

The one relationship I was so emotional about was Alex's good friend and PA, Juliet. Her past tore me up but made me realise the strength of his and her friendship and how graciously Mel accepts her in not just as a friend, but as family into Mel and Alex's lives. To know that Juliet has a chance of a bit of happiness towards the end of this novella just warmed my heart. She truly deserved it.

But do they get their happily ever after?  A bump in the road will make Alex question his past from the present and take flight, leaving Mel heartbroken.

"He wouldn't make eye contact with me.  I tried to get him to, but he just wouldn't.  I stood and went to make a move towards him, and he took a step back away from me...the door slammed shut behind him, and he was gone."

My heart broke for the pair, knowing that the way Alex had been treated by his Ex was the only thing making him run from Mel. But would he make it back to Mel before too much damage was done Could she face being treated like that again in fear of being left alone?

A simply brilliant Novella from Leigh Stone. I'm so excited to read more in the Belfast Bound series as well as her other projects for this year. Another five star read from the talented Leigh Stone!

Eden Elsworth - Rowena (Rowena, Paranormal Investigator #1)

**Review by Susan

Rowena takes on a new case, but she could be about to find out more of her history than she wants to know.

Lumbered with a hot angel with designs on her womb, she has to find and nullify the spirit plaguing her new client, deal with revelations about who her father is, and shake off her addiction to her best friend with benefits, Stephen.

Can she do all that and still stay sane?

Rowena is a funny, strong and independent woman. As a Paranormal Investigator she always get herself into unusual circumstances, but one particular job leads her to a relationship with an angel (who has a purpose with Rowena much to her dislike!) but the Angel is hot....who can deny a hot angel?!

But amongst the brilliant, Rowena learns more about herself than she thought she would. She would learn about a whole other dimension of her life that she had no idea about but makes things click into place.

The follow on to this story is 'Satan's Spawn'.

Mr E Mann - One Night Stand Band (An Erotic Serial #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

Badboy rocker, Lincoln Tanner has one rule, and only one rule. He doesn't ever double-dip. Once he's had a girl it's 'Bye Felicia'. He never thinks of them again, never even sees them again, even if they stand beside him.

'Hope' has only ever lived by one rule. Get on in life. She's kept her head down her entire life, working hard, making good grades, getting a good job. Being a GOOD GIRL. But she's tired of it, and can think of nothing more exciting to break her rule, for one night only, than to get Linc Tanner into bed.

Can a badboy rocker ever be reformed?
Can good girls ever truly go bad?

Find out in the One Night Stand Band serial.

So this is my first erotic read from a man! Mr E Mann....I think this new author has something very exciting here...and HOT! Steam meter at bursting here. It's the first in a serial so I can't wait to read more but it's a short, hot and steamy story.
Typical cocky rock band celeb but from a damaged past comes into the arms of Hope. But can she be his hope? After one night together, will they see each other again?

I'd give this new release a 4 star rating!

A K Michaels - The Reluctant Alpha (Highland Wolf Clan #1)

**Review by Susan

Cameron Sinclair is a successful businessman, with world-wide offices. He’s a multi-billionaire with all the trappings, private jet included. But Cameron has a secret – he’s also a Wolf. A Wolf who vowed never to return to Pack life, or his birthright as Alpha.
With no choice but to answer his father’s summons, he reluctantly returns to his Highland Pack. However, two Alphas in one Pack will never do and things do not go smoothly. Cameron again leaves his Pack to aid his Uncle in the US, with several of his friends in tow.
What awaits is heartache, sorrow and the chance for a new life as Alpha of a large Pack. A life with love in it, his first sight of the white She-Wolf affecting him in ways he can’t even understand.
A deadly threat is uncovered and he and his Wolves must defend the Pack by all means necessary. When the threat is a corrupt and depraved Alpha and a horde of immortal guards, can Cameron save the Pack? And, if he does, will he want a part of it?
Or, will he do what he always does – walk away?

So when Ava asked me to help her with this new release I was over the moon because I hadn't read any of her books and didn't know what to expect. Only having read one other paranormal book. But it took me less than a day to fly through this incredible story.

An amazingly well written story with characters I took to quickly and I think Cameron Sinclair may officially be one of Sent from my iPhone

His usual carefree, business like status was all turned on its head when he went to visit his family/pack after letting his wolf grow restless a journey to a pack in trouble would make him recognise what he had been neglecting and enjoying his freedom. Despite him not wanting to admit it.

His head is turned by the White she-wolf and his concern for her.
With battles ahead and pain for the pack the sense of pack-life and the purpose he was brought there for becomes clear...but would he make the choice to leave or stay? Would he step up to his true calling?

An incredible start to the Highland Wolf Clan series and I can wait to see where some of the building relationships towards the end of the book leads...not to mention the cliffhanger that killed me! ;)

Five star rating for this one!

Annie Jocoby - Exposure (Exposure Series Book One)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Stacey

Photographer CJ Parker is a woman who has literally not gone outside for the past six months. She's been hiding from the world, and from life, ever since an unimaginable tragedy forced her into seclusion.

On the one day where she decides to finally venture outside, she meets the mysterious billionaire, Asher Sloane. Dark-headed, magnetic, and gorgeous, Asher drips sex and animal magnetism.

Their attraction to one another is undeniable, immediate, consuming, and scorching hot.

He draws CJ out of her shell and into the world, while showing her things that she never knew existed.

But what CJ doesn't know is that Asher has a dangerous past. Behind his beautiful blue eyes and confident demeanor lies dark secrets that, if they are brought to light, could mean the end of CJ and Asher's relationship.

Will the exposure of Asher's past destroy them?

This is a full-length erotic romance novel. This book contains lots of romance and A LOT of hot sex...fair warning. :)

CJ suffers from agoraphobia stemming from a very traumatic event that happened just six months ago. Every day she has to live with what happened and her survivors guilt. Because of her condition and not being able to venture outside, she hasn't been able to work at her career as a papparazzi photographer so is quite literally running out of money when she decides that she needs to face her fear head on instead of seeking the right help for it. Her first trip out alone in six months doesn't start too well and she ends up passing out and waking in a strange place - the home of Asher Sloane, a local billionaire. Will she accept his help? Well, she has to seeing as she cannot venture outside, especially on her own...

I have to say I found the beginning of the story a bit unbelievable, After CJ has ventured outside for the first time in six months, she has a panic attack and is rescued by Asher, even though there was a lady walking towards her when it happened.. Especially in New York, I would have thought that somebody would have helped there & then rather than just taking her from the scene. Then when she wakes up in his apartment, she wants to stay there because she is attracted to him even though she is scared and confused, and she has sex with him practically straight away; it just felt a bit odd.

Nonetheless, Asher eventually helps her to leave and helps her with slowly overcoming her fears. Asher has a proposition for CJ in order to help with her finances and her recovery; that is, until a dinner party spells disaster for CJ when one of Asher's old flames reveals CJ's secret and she checks herself into rehab.

Both CJ and Asher had secrets of their past but these weren't revealed until later in the book. Even though I couldn't get into it at first, it did make me want to keep reading to find out what they were. Asher's secret led to a cliffhanger ending which has made me want to read the second part to find out what happens! Three of five stars for this one (though I will be reading the next!).

Elena Matthews - Look After Me (Look After You #2)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

The moment Sebastian Gilbert watches his fiancée declare her undying love to another man, his entire life changes.
Unable to cope with the loss of his fiancée, his job … his life, he turns to the one thing that will help ease the pain.
Seven long months later …
Sebastian has checked out of rehab, but after three months locked behind those doors, away from the outside world, he’s struggling to adapt to his new life. His thoughts are clouded with anger … bitterness …
When he reaches out to his drug counselor from rehab, his one and only lifeline, he begins to find hope.
Addison Scott is sweet, smart, and understands him in a way that no one else does. As she helps Sebastian rebuild his life, their friendship grows.
But lines become blurred …
Sebastian’s broken heart is slowly mending, but will letting Addison in shatter it once more?

Warning: Recommended for ages 18+ due to subject matters of drug abuse, violence, explicit language and sexual situations.

I was eagerly awaiting this arriving on my kindle and it didn't disappoint. After the brilliant 'Look After You' this follow on is from Sebestian's POV. The man who gave up his life in the army, to come back to his family, only to find his fiancé in the arms of another man. I loved Sebastian in the first book but seeing his tortuous journey from the heartbreak he's suffered and his recovery makes me love him all the more.

But despite him travelling down a long dark road and facing his habit from his teenage years he meets someone who will set his life back on track. Gives him 'Strength and Courage' and so much more.

"I understand how being hurt by the one person you loved whole-heartedly could push you over the edge. It doesn't mean you're weak. It means you're human."

But as Sebastian's counsellor (Addison) we see the boundaries were blurred as their professional relationship grew to friendship friendship and then moved into something more. And how hot that would be! To see and feel Sebastian's happiness returning was felt as if she wasn't just helping him sigh an addiction, she was helping mend his heart.

"But that's the thing about having what you can't have, it makes you want it even more.
It's human nature.
It's instinct.
It's frustrating."

But the loss and heartache Sebastian feels for his ex and mother to his beautiful daughter would look over him. But would it be at the cost to his future happiness? I hoped not. Desperately wanting him to get the happiness he seemed to be depriving himself. But deep down knowing they were made for one another.

What a journey Sebastian takes. But can he reconcile with his anger and move on? Will Addison walk away from feeling like she lives in the shadow of another woman? When he's faced with being alone, he recognises what he needs to do. But it won't be easy.

"As long as I'm breathing I'll survive."

Another simply brilliant five star read from Elena Matthews. I couldn't put this down and just adored it. A truly talented author.

Mia Sheridan - Finding Eden

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan & Stacey

Finding Eden is the continuation, and conclusion, to Becoming Calder.

When the world as you know it has ended, when all that you love has been washed away, where do you find strength?

When the new world you've stepped into is as isolating as the last, when your heart is broken, and your future is unclear, where do you find hope?

Finding Eden is a story of strength, discovery, forgiveness, and undying love. It is about believing in your destiny and following the path that leads to peace.

THIS IS THE SECOND PART, AND CONCLUSION, IN A TWO-PART SIGN OF LOVE SERIES INSPIRED BY AQUARIUS (BECOMING CALDER SHOULD BE READ FIRST). New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and graphic sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

The continuing story of Calder and Eden is a brilliant one. Seeing how the pair struggled in the 'real world' without one another was heartbreaking. But fate brings them together and they face their challenges ahead. Learning about one another's pasts, dealing with the terror they had been through and learning more about the man called 'Hector'.

"Because people defined by bitterness end up destroying themselves."

Despite all their hardships and the number of obstacles put in their way they survive and adjust to life outside Arcadia.

"And I thought to myself, even though life could be horrifying and earth-shattering, terrible and tragic, it was also filled with moments of breathtaking beauty.  And sometimes you just had to laugh."

Another truly wonderful book from Mia Sheridan.  In complete awe of her talent and can't give this any less than 5 stars.  In fact it just doesn't seem enough.

Final favourite excerpt:

"... Life is a mess sometimes, but the way I see it, you're the beauty that came from the mess."

After I had read Becoming Calder I started reading Finding Eden straight away but then a couple of BETA's popped up so I had to stop part way through, though I was dying to find out what became of the couple. I mentioned in my review of Calder that it took me a while to get in to, but Eden had me hooked from the get go.

My heart was breaking for them until a turn of fate brought them back together - my insides were jumping for joy as I just didn't see how they could live without each other! Once again the passion and emotion between Calder and Eden was palpable.

"It was almost as if we both wanted to open each other's skin and crawl inside, bury ourselves so deeply that it would be impossible to ever separate us again."

They were obviously both still recovering from such a huge change in their lives that Eden especially felt she needed to go on a journey of discovery in order to finally close that chapter of their lives.

I have to say I didn't see coming what the couple eventually found out so the suspense kept me hanging on all the way to the end and yet again with one of Mia's books, I went through a flurry of emotions with exclaiming out loud and the company I was keeping wondering what was the matter!

A perfect ending and I have to give this one five stars.
