Keren Hughes - Ready To Love Again

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

For Alyssa Young, life has never been easy. But the hardest thing of all was two years ago when her husband Ethan committed suicide…

Moving town was her only option, she had to get out of the town where she grew up and all the buildings and people reminded her of what she had lost.

She found a new job at Emerging Butterfly Publishing House and that was where she met editor, Chase Williams.

Although she has no romantic interest in him, he pursues her…

Of course he's good looking. He's also smart, funny, and she loves spending time with him. But Alyssa can't put the past to rest.

He wants Alyssa to open up to him and fall in love with him the way he fell for her the moment he met her.

Can Chase convince Alyssa that the time is right and she’s ready to love again?

The story of Lys (Alyssa) setting up a new home, or rather temporary stop gap. Needless to say, one of her shopping trips for bare essentials would lead her someone who would become an integral part of her new life. Clark. Their friendship would grow and he would help her immeasurably in her new start.
But what was she running from? Plagued by nightmares we learn her heartbreaking story. A young widow escaping the pitying glares of her old life. Her husband had been diagnosed with ALS and as he quickly deteriorated , he would take matters into his own hands...

"Lys, you were my best friend, my soul-mate and so much more. I believe we'll see each other again someday...but for now, I am out of time and goodbyes..."

Lys's heartbreak was apparent and had me sobbing like a baby. As she reflected on her life with him, from how they met, to their wedding and plans for their future that would never happen. It was devastating. **warning tissues needed**

But as Lys tries to move on with her life, a new job, would dredge up feelings for someone she hadn't expected. But an old friend would make her question how long she should really be grieving and whether she should be allowed to move on...

"...I was lost without Ethan and just when I thought maybe I had found someone I could move in with, Justine had shown me I was wrong."

But besides the tears, and snotty tissues I surrounded myself in...jeez it was hot. Keren Hughes was the cause of cold showers, as well as a box or two of tissues ;)

But with an incredible story, which was close to my heart as my dad had MND so I think this made this read all the more emotional. I fell in love with all the characters and it was beautifully written. Steam meter was fit to burst too. It really was one of these books that will stay with me. For that very reason it's a definite five star read.

"...will I ever truly be ready to love again?"
