Judith Katz - Prisoners of Love

**Review by Stacey

Meeting in the most unlikely of places—the waiting room of a penitentiary—a most unlikely friendship proves life-changing for three women. As they slowly learn to understand and trust each other, despite coming from very different worlds, the love and support they offer makes their separate struggles less burdensome and begins to heal their shattered self-esteem. This riveting modern tale of Cissy, Christina and Margaret, whose men are in prison for various offenses, could be ripped from the headlines. One woman is a wealthy pillar of society, another a suburban housewife, while the third was once at the top of the entertainment industry in a popular girl group before she began a rapid and tragic fall. All three have secret heartaches they could share with no one—until they found each other. However, all is not as it seems, as their lives take a sinister turn, and their close bonds and individual strength of character are tested to the extreme.
This book is a guilty pleasure you will not want to put down until you reach its riveting climax. And if ever a book begged for screen adaption, this is it!

When I read the blurb of this book I was really intrigued, I thought it would be a real story of friendship forged from the criminalities of three women's husbands.

Christina, Cissy and Margaret meet at visiting time while visiting their husbands in prison. Though they are all from completely different walks of life, they have more in common than they first realise what with their husbands all being murderers. The three become the best of friends but their husbands all cross each others path in prison without realising the relationship between them.

The three female characters were likable and relatable to their walk of life, but it just felt like there were too many scenarios happening and I couldn't keep up in parts as the story kept jumping straight from one place to another in the same chapter. It was only nearer the end that I was kept hanging on as I didn't see it coming and I wanted to know if all of the characters got their happy endings.

------------------------------
"Don't you ever stop fighting. You fight with your last breath, you fight until God takes you."
------------------------------

In general though, Prisoners of Love is a great story of friendship, family and being there for each other through the good and bad.

L.A. Cotton - Loyalty and Lies (Chastity Falls #1)

*Contains mild adult themes
**Review by Susan

Eighteen-year-old Savanah Parry just moved three thousand miles across state to escape. The memories…the whispers…the pain.

Chastity Falls Academy is supposed to be her fresh start; her salvation. And when Ana meets mysterious Jackson, she begins to think it is. She hasn't smiled in almost sixteen months; not since the night her life changed forever, and despite her guilt…her loyalty, Ana can’t deny that Jackson is breathing life back into her. With Jackson by her side, Ana wants to believe she can heal and move on. But she isn’t the only one living a lie, and the small private Academy has secrets of its own. All is not what it seems, and Ana is about to find herself in a tangled web of lies; fighting for survival, again.

Loyalties will be tested, lies will be told. Welcome to Chastity Falls.

This is the first book of LA Cotton's I've managed to read yet but Loyalty and Lies has been a great easy read!
The 19 year old freshman arrives at Chastity Falls with a few demons hanging over her but keeps these hidden from all of us and all the friends she meets.  But she does befriend her room-mate. And their friendship is just what was needed....

------------------------------
"...Just like that, I knew I had found a friend. A true friend. And some of the cracks started to fill in.  Mend. A tiny price of the brokenness in me was healed."
------------------------------

Friendship, guys, alcohol and studies. The usual student lifestyle carries on around her but the demons that haunt her cause her such immense grief but one guy (Jackson) will be the making of her.

As she allows herself to feel again and recognise the love she feels. Letting someone else in and learning how to accept that.

------------------------------
"The heart wanted what it wanted, and it seemed my heart had been captured and ignited back to life..."
------------------------------

For me she truly "loves" him when she discusses the demons within her. Her past and what she ran from. Their relationship is tested and with a disapproving extended family for Jackson. The pair have a lot facing them.

A brilliant start to LA Cottons Chastity Falls books and I can't wait to read the next installment to see where it goes. I need to know the pair get some happiness!

A lot of football and some characters I struggled to keep up with but overall a lovely easy read :)

Mandy Lou Dowson - Stepbrother, Mine (Taboo Series #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

**This book is a stand alone. It is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18, due to explicit scenes, language and situations.

They were always taught that family was about more than blood, but when step-siblings Sophie Ellis and Logan Castle meet for the first time, their attraction is instantaneous. Forever trying to keep each other at arm's length, they discover that sometimes the best laid plans fall apart, when lovers fall together.

He's everything she's ever fantasized about, and everything she can never have.
She's all he's ever wanted, but never hoped to have.
Trying so hard to be his stepsister, she can't shake the attraction she feels.
He decides it's best to leave, but when circumstances see them reunite, and he discovers their initial attraction is still there after all the intervening years, he can't help himself. He has to have her.
Running scared, she cuts all ties.
Left behind, his bitterness grows.
When again circumstances force her back into his arms, her past comes back to haunt her.
He's determined to make her pay for leaving him.

Desires are forbidden. Loyalties are tested. Hearts are broken. And in the end, is love strong enough to conquer all?

So we meet Sophie, the never been kissed, sixteen year old on her mother's wedding day. Sophie had no siblings till that day. The mother-daughter relationship is clear to see and the bond they have is perfect. She was truly happy for mum as the perfect bride to be on her wedding day, with her daughter as bridesmaid. It was that day that would change the rest of Sophie's life forever. Meeting the handsome stranger, with no formal introduction, it felt exciting and new and as I can only explain it, inexorably mean to be. I could almost feel the static in the air reading about them, forgetting they were in fact teenagers.
The inevitable happens when the two are introduced and it dawns on them that the attraction they felt should just be squashed, they were siblings now...well it's easier in theory. How could they create a sibling bond?

------------------------------
"...I'm not your brother, I'm your stepbrother, which means anything we do with, or to each other is entirely legal."
"But hardly moral..."
------------------------------

A separation for a year another birthday would bring awful news, and rather than facing their attraction again, the pair cling onto one another through the worst news. We see them fall apart.

------------------------------
"....I'll always be here for you Soph....I'll always be your family..."
------------------------------

We meet the couple a number of years later, when Sophie is settled with her then partner and Logan is, well, Logan :)
But he continues to be the support he claimed he would be, he speaks to her frequently about her issues or bad dreams and frequent late night phone calls continue. He pulls Sophie from the darkest hours she has and reminds her of the good. He is the perfect, sometimes hilarious gentleman.

However when Sophie finds herself single, the first person she runs to is Logan. They reconnect not only emotionally but physically and it leaves Sophie feeling confused once again doubtful of others judgments and her feelings, rather than grasping onto some kind of happiness. She runs and this time Logan's hurt and resentment is clear to see. He reaches out but gets nothing.

When the pair meet back up under a business contract they seem like different people. But the attraction is no less. However Logan's hurt is evident and makes him become a character difficult to like. Would he push Sophie too far? Would she be able to refuse the biggest contract her small business have ever been offered? Would he make her jump through hoops to fulfill the contract?

The book was amazing. So completely different from the 'Moon Bound Series' but brilliant none the less. The characters were brilliant and although it was a hard read at points, it was a constant page turner and so emotional. All I desperately wanted was for them both to find their own happiness.

Even someone close to Sophie can realise her feelings for Logan and I hoped maybe that would be the permission she needed to grant herself some happiness.

A five star read and the same for my steam meter ;)

Krissy V - A Taste of Christmas Dublin Style

**Review by Susan

My name is Nollaig, it’s the Irish word for Christmas. I hate my name. My parents loved Christmas and that’s why they gave me such a festive name, together with the fact that I was born on Christmas Day.

However, my parents are no longer with us after dying in a car accident on Christmas Eve, five years ago.

Now I hate Christmas all together.

I always hated the fact that everyone got presents on my birthday. Now my parents are gone and ever since then I just don’t feel like celebrating Christmas. Everything about this holiday gives me sad memories.

I need a miracle to happen over the Christmas holiday to make me change my mind about Christmas.

Who knew that a quick shopping trip would provide me with the miracle that I so desperately needed?

I am a bit late in reading and reviewing this Christmas Novella from Krissy V. The story of Nolly and Tully is a truly magical one. Despite Nollaig's heartbreak over Christmas five years ago Tully was going to recapture her love and be either her every step of the way.

Despite it being late January it truly made me feel festive and believe in the magic of Christmas all over again!

The best Christmas Novella I've read so far!

Mia Sheridan - Kyland

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan & Stacey

Dirt poor. Hillbilly. Backwoods hick. Mountain folk.
Tenleigh Falyn struggles each day to survive in a small, poverty-stricken, coal mining town where she lives with her sister and mentally ill mother. Her dream of winning the college scholarship given to one student by the local coal company and escaping the harshness of her life, keeps her going.
Kyland Barrett lives in the hills, too, and has worked tirelessly—through near starvation, through deep loneliness, against all odds—to win the Tyton Coal Scholarship and leave the town that is full of so much pain.
They're both determined not to form any attachments, but one moment changes everything. What happens when only one person gets to win? When only one person gets to leave? And what happens to the one left behind?
Kyland is a story of desperation and hope, loss and sacrifice, pain and forgiveness, but ultimately, a story of deep and unending love.
THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY TAURUS. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Susan
Mia's latest release is incredible. Heartwarming, heartbreaking and tear inducing!

------------------------------
"Kyland Barrett wasn't at all what I had expected.  And something about that both confused and thrilled me in a way I wasn't sure I liked".
------------------------------

Kyland and Tenleigh's love grows, despite both of them doing all they can to prevent it, but what is meant to be for the pair knowing they would be forced to separate at one point?

------------------------------
"He just shared a personal part of his heart with me. I knew better than anyone that the things you did to survive were the most personal of all-the fight to live would humble you in ways you didn't ever want anyone else to know about. Because sometimes it was unspeakable. Sometimes it was ugly and shameful and beautiful and courageous all at once."
------------------------------

The heartbreak and utter pain the two go through from their love and the unspoken truths that will devastate them. Will they find their way back to one another? Or will too much pain and resentment remain?

------------------------------
"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone forever...I have loved none but you."
------------------------------

This story took my breath away, and like the rest of Mia's books, it captured a piece of my heart.
No matter what walk of life you come from, your true worth and value is what makes you who you are and how rich your life will become - this is most definitely the case for Kyland.  Another 5* read from Mia Sheridan!

Stacey
I don't even know where to start with Kyland. And that's in a good way! Even writing this review and thinking about the book is bringing tears to my eyes - that's how much it has affected me.

Kyland and Tenleigh don't have a lot. They come from the same part of town and Tenleigh believes she's not worthy of Kyland, but she's oh so wrong. Little did she know that Kyland had admired her from afar for a long time. One moment between them changes everything, the course of their life, the way they thought they were headed.

------------------------------
"I think that when enough time has passed, when you've survived that which you didn't imagine you could, there's a dignity in that. Something you can own. A pride in knowing the pain made you stronger. The pain made you fight to succeed."
------------------------------

They fall madly in love knowing that at some point in the near future they are going to have to leave each other. Their parting is one full of hurt, heartbreak and emotion - from them and me! Years later Tenleigh returns home, but can they put the past behind them and have a happily ever after?

------------------------------
"...nothing on this whole earth was more important than love."
------------------------------

Mia just has this knack of drawing you into her characters straight away and that's nothing new here. I could physically feel their pain, their passion, their emotion; I was just so sucked in throughout and I never wanted to put it down. It tugged at my heart and emotions so much; it was just astounding, amazing and I wholly recommend it (and tissues!)

Once again, Mia has produced another five star read.

Elena Matthews - Look After You (Look After You #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

The birth of your firstborn child is supposed to be the best day of your life, a joyous occasion. Well that’s what twenty-eight year old Ava Jacobson thought. That is until her life takes a drastic turn for the worse and her daughter is born three months earlier than planned, weighing only two pounds, two ounces.

A distraught Ava is thrown into the deep end of motherhood and instead of being able to hold her baby like other moms, she has to sit back and watch her daughter fight for her life in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, while her fiancĂ©, Sebastian Gilbert is in the midst of a messy war in Afghanistan. Ava is left to pick up the pieces with the help of her only friend, Caleb Summers.

When her vulnerable state hits an all time low, she finds solace in an unexpected pair of intense green eyes. Eyes that belong to her daughter's doctor, Ashton Bailey, and she falls, like she has never fallen before. However, for the sake of Sebastian she desperately tries to fight against her newfound feelings for Ashton, but eventually the pull between the two is so strong that it is impossible for her to stay away.

Then when Ava is convinced things can't possibly get any worse, a cloud of blackness closes in on her as the secret demons of her past come back to haunt her, with news that will irreversibly shake her entire world forever.

As Ava’s roller coaster ride she calls life begins to circle the drain, she quickly learns that even through the darkness of evil, there is always that one person who will look after you and have the ability to pull you away from the brink of no return, when nobody else can.

Recommended for ages 18+ due to heavy subject matters of rape and suicide. Also includes violence, explicit language and sexual situations.

Look After You by Elena Matthews is a must read. When a good friend recommended it to me, I jumped straight in knowing that the next installment isn't too far away. The story jumps straight into Ava's torment on an early delivery of her baby girl. Her immense strength but visible pain as she feels her body lets her down is heart wrenching.
The journey she travels with only her best friend by her side is a hard one. Not to mention the fact her boyfriend is away fighting his own war in Afghanistan, she feels very vulnerable.
But someone she doesn't expect to come crashing into her life rescues her from a
torment of her past, what she runs from and makes her face head on what she had hidden from everyone for such a long time. Including her own first love.

Longing for her first love/college crush 'Sebastian' while she has to confront her past with a very good new friend pushes her boundaries and feelings to the extreme.
This story was incredible but it just kept getting better and it was an incredible read.
I loved the two points of perspectives too. Not always getting the full picture from just one side.

After reading so many incredible books recently I am conscious of my ratings being stricter this year but this book truly captured my heart and giving it any less than 5 stars would be a crime.

I can't wait for 'Look After Me' which will bring a whole new dimension to this already brilliant story. Keep an eye out for the review upon release day as we have an ARC coming our way next month!! :D

Mandy Lou Dowson - Bound by Revenge (Moon Bound Series Book 2)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan

Not suitable for under 18's due to adult themes, explicit scenes and some mild horror.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. And Donovan has a huge serving of it for one female in particular. He intends to find her and make her pay. But will he find her before the deadly poison in his blood gets him? Running on empty, his body no longer obeying his commands, he must rely on others to keep him alive just long enough to see his plan come to fruition.

There is one she-wolf who will be his touchstone. Together, they are stronger. Together, they might just survive. As the darkness swallows him whole, she will be his saviour. There's only one problem -- he's not interested in being saved.

A choice lies before him -- revenge or love -- but with his heart closed to emotion, his choice may already be made. Hatred is what drives him. But will his vengeance keep him warm at night?

So following on from the recent review of Mandy Dowson's first book "Bound by Fate", comes the second book in the Moon Bound Series. Where do I start?

We return to Donovan, who was badly poisoned by the she-wolf known as Felicity at the end of "Bound by Fate". He has broken way from the pack and is now a free wolf/vogue however comes across a pack whilst looking for treatment of his recent poisoning. It's then that his story unravels as we see his anger for the woman who had broken his world apart and she causes unnecessary mayhem by going off randomly in some kind of madness and kills innocent humans. Breaking more sacred pack laws.

Adelphi the Alpha Female of this pack, despite having a husband latches onto Donovan. But she is already mated to the Alpha Male so there is some strain there....however Adelphi takes Donovan on board, helps him heal and a group of the pack go on to find Felicity once and for all. Their journey is a difficult one. With blood, tears, sex (very hot by the way!), and generally see Donovan grow in feelings for a female member of the pack, Greta.

Greta deserves a round of applause in this book, she is smart, cocky beyond words and you can never tell when she is serious or not LOL.  From the start I noticed their attraction and desperately wanted them to be together. But unfortunate and awful, circumstances would only be the way to finally let Donovan reveal his true feelings for the unmated female.

I've never read a book before with so many mythical creatures (werewolves, witches, vampires, chimeras...) and felt so completely encapsulated with. My heart desperately wanting nothing but happiness for both Donovan and Greta who both seemed like they held their guards up.

But will someone close to Donovan make an appearance when he thinks all hope is gone? When he's ready to give up all hope? But will this uninvited stranger be too much for Greta or her pack to accept, given the troubles they may bring with them?! Oooh I want to tell you but I can't....you MUST go read this....it's actually the best paranormal romance I've read.

The tears fell on a few occasions throughout the book....I winced in pain for the characters I had grown so fond of through dark twists, and emotions ran high throughout.
As for the hotness level?! Well it's bloody steamy. But also strangely sensual knowing that the pair had one another and their acts went beyond just the physical act of sex....so simply another brilliantly written book by Mandy Dowson and feel very privileged to get a first glance of this book. Keep up the hard work lovely from all of us here in Bookland x

KA Hobbs - Broken (Lauren's Story)

*Review by Stacey

My name is Lauren. You’ve met my daughter, Abigail. She is pretty amazing isn’t she? I want you to understand a little about me, about why I did what I did. I took away Doug’s chance to experience those first few years of his daughters life, but I feel like in doing so, I lost the rest of them. If I could trade those first few years for the rest of her life, I would. In a heartbeat.

No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. I hope I can be forgiven for mine.

This is book three in The Connected Series.

Broken is the 3rd book in The Connected series from the wonderful KA Hobbs. In Broken, we detract away from Sophie & Doug's new life and revisit somebody who has briefly been mentioned - Abigail's mum, Lauren.

We find out in book 1 that Doug had a brief relationship with Lauren a few years ago and she fell pregnant. She then left Doug behind and went back to the US to be with her parents, telling Doug that there was no longer a baby. Readers may have thought bad of Lauren for doing this, for lying about such a thing, but in Broken we find out her reasons why.

We get to know all about Lauren's life since leaving Doug behind, all about why she did what she did and why Doug only recently found out about Abigail. This is done through the story prose and some letters that Lauren has written.

I don't want to give too much away as I want you to read it for yourself, but I know this was a very hard story for KA to write and I can see why, and it is written beautifully; I really came to be on Lauren's side and was glad that KA decided to let us see things from Lauren's point of view.

Mia Sheridan - Archer's Voice

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan & Stacey

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY SAGITTARIUS. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Susan
When one of my good friends kept telling me to read Archer I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. Archer's Voice is an incredible story of pain, sadness, but also love, trust and above all communication.

When he meets Bree the attraction is immediate and she is the first person he lets down his barriers for. When she arrives in his home town she doesn't know his past, and he doesn't know hers....just how they both wanted it. But friendships were built, and trust was built and she learns about him and all he's suffered. He lets her in despite all the pain of his past.

Communication between the pair is what opens Archer up. She understands him....and they learn from one another. She gave him the chance to talk. When no one else had been willing to listen. I found it so incredibly touching that the pair used sign language to communicate but actually they read one another more intimately when nothing was said (or used at all!).

Bree builds herself a life in Archer's hometown and fits in well. But Archer feels like a burden to Bree after much meddling from members of Archer's "family" and decides to leave suddenly, leaving Bree heartbroken. I was at this point a complete mess.
The heartache of Bree who had to believe Archer would return to her waited for him patiently...but was it too late? The pair struggle through some awful situations and on Archer's return we see a stronger man. A man who learned about himself and the confidence to go out there. To be the man he genuinely wanted to be for Bree rather than the burden he assumed himself to be.

I can't say it often enough how much this book got under my skin...it's witty, adorable and so incredibly written. I'm so pleased I read it and urge anyone who hasn't to go buy it...I am officially a big Mia Sheridan fan.

Stacey
I can't say much more than Susan has already regarding the story... But what I can say is how much I fell in love with Archer (new book boyfriend alert), through all his struggles he can't believe he has this wonderful girl now in Bree and he is so doubtful of himself which makes you love him even more (and just want to lick him! ;).  The story was beautifully written and just...oh, just incredibly beautiful. The sexual and emotional relationship between them so intense. I loved it from start to finish. And I cried and had a wafty hand thing going on at the end because I was sad it was over. The first book in a long time that has left me with a book hangover. (Go buy it!)

Lisa J Hobman - Reasons to Leave (Reasons Part One)

**Review by Susan

The daughter of a single mother, and abandoned by her father, Stevie thought she had finally found a man she could trust.
Aged eighteen she thought she would be with Jason forever.
Everything between them was perfect until the night of the leaver's ball when he disappeared without trace.
Ten years on, can Stevie ever learn to trust again enough to give her heart?
Or are the ghosts of her past determined to stop her from ever finding true love?

Reasons to Stay (book 1) by Lisa J Hobman was a pleasure to read. We meet the high school sweethearts (Stevie and Jason) around the time of leaving high school and preparing for university. The bond they shared, emotionally was so incredibly strong and beautiful to read although they still haven't had sex, their connection is no less.

Jason seems vague about his plans for university although Stevie assures him it's just a wobble, a sudden disappearance when a 'leavers ball' is planned breaks her heart. My heart plummeted thinking something awful had happened to Stevie's 'soul mate'.
Ten years passes and she has no contact, no one does. It's heartbreaking seeing how she has difficulties connecting or forming any solid relationships because of her hurt. In her mind, after an absent father she tarnished all men with the same brush and accepted that they would leave her. It was heartbreaking, my only wish was for her to find some happiness.

A last minute change to her work schedule meant a school trip to Scotland with a coach full of teenagers for an activity filled 7 days. Needless to say, she meets a 'handsome man' who seemed to do nothing but irritate her initially. The arrogant, pig headed man would make her realise a lot about herself and even some things she didn't know at all.
We see the couple physically and emotionally connect,
but the sadness when Stevie needs to return to her home, let and job in London is evident. When it comes to the pair saying goodbye I was sobbing. Wanting nothing more than them to reach a compromise. Cue Susan reaching for the Kleenex.

My heart was in my mouth and the emotional rollercoaster of their relationship seems doomed, despite them quite obviously being made for one another. Do they both have too many issues or hurt behind them to move forward? Another 5* book from the talented Lisa J Hobman.

J A Heron - 30 Days with Dariana

*Contains adult themes
** Review by Susan

*** THIS IS A STAND ALONE READ ***
Approbation.
Hatred.
Revenge.

When these forces unite, they are unstoppable.
Meet Dariana Walsh the daughter of gangster Wilson Walsh, who is a ruthless monster. Dariana feels trapped, wanting nothing more than to be treated like an adult.
Meet Chas, he works for Walsh initially but he is not who he seems.
When forces are united they intend to take down the most unrelenting man to walk through the streets of East London. This is a dark, erotic thriller and the journey is only just beginning.

Contains strong sexual and violent scenes ~ over 18's only. There are strong, dark scenes in this book if you do not wish to read about violence, sexual violence or child abuse, then please do not buy this book.

When I received '30 Days...' with the warning that it was violent, bloody and graphic I didn't really stop to question whether or not to read it, because J A Heron's two previous books have been so incredible. How could I not?!

Was I disappointed? No! This was a different feel to the first two books (Belleza and Alias) but continued to drag me in, mess with my emotions, question everything I thought I knew and threw it back at me.

Dariana meets Chas, they are a match made in heaven but to say Dariana's father was a little controlling is putting it lightly! The mafia-style boss was in tight control of everyone and everything but Dariana was given an escape from the man her father paid to protect her. Oh, how he would regret that!

------------------------------
"That is for the pain you caused the love of my life, the man who taught me love, respect and strength. The man who taught me more in one month, than you ever did in Twenty Four years”.
------------------------------

I don't want to spoil this book for anyone, but it's a truly incredible read that you have no idea what is around the next corner. J A Heron just keeps amazing me and I'm very proud to have read all three of her books. Each as brilliant as the next. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next! A fab start, with a fab book to 2015 for me!

(Five stars don't do this book justice).

Leigh Stone - Lex's Melody (Belfast Bound #1)

*Contains adult themes
**Review by Susan & Stacey

Lex's Melody is Leigh Stone's first erotic novel, set in the Northern Ireland city of Belfast.

Alex Matthews is a tall, handsome dominant. He exists on the thrill that having a woman submit to him creates. He doesn't date, he doesn't commit. He works hard as an architect by day, and demands control over his submissives in his downtime. Melody Anderson is a 26 year college student who is about to change all that.

When her best friend Jonny suggests that she try a dating website, Mel has no idea where it will lead. Alex finds her profile compelling, and on their first meeting in the oldest bar in Belfast makes the suggestion that she should submit to him. Enthralled by where this could lead, Mel agrees, and the pair find themselves bound together in submission and dominance.
Alex soon finds that with Mel, his previous vice of submission only, isn't enough, and he yearns to make their relationship more, but a dark shadow from Alex's past looms menacingly on the horizon.
Will Alex overcome his fears from the past and find a future with Mel, or will it all end in tragedy?

Contains graphic sexual scenes including those with BDSM overtones. Also contains graphic language, and therefore is not suitable for under 18's.

Lex's Melody has been sitting on my kindle for too long so was very excited to get round to reading it and it did not disappoint!

Alex was instantly drawn to me (because he's a bit of a control freak!) and because of the way he was treated by his first love. His inability to let anyone in and needs to keep people at a distance through his 'control' and need to 'dominate' in every sense of the word ;)

When Alex meets Melody the attraction is immediate and the pair have no issues in seeing where this takes them....but what a journey it would be. Hot, steamy and generally cold shower inducing ;)

This alone would have rated it a five star for me....but the story?! It was awesome. The journey the pair take in getting to know one another, the anxieties of Alex being hurt again or just them both recognising their feelings but showing one another this rather than saying it.

Melody and Alex are perfect together and the sex is undeniably brilliant - well let's not beat about the bush here...it's the best the pair have had. They fit each other like a glove and if I could have sped them up to get together and knock down any walls the pair had, I would have, but it wouldn't have shown the brilliant story Leigh Stone had given us. When disaster strikes, I honestly feared for Alex. Returning to his shell and in despair after a misinterpretation, would Melody disappear from his life?

The ecstatic joy and dirty weekends were simply brilliant, the hurt and pain inducing lows are incredible also. A brilliantly written book that I couldn't put down. I am beyond excited to read the next installment of the Belfast Bound series.

On the steam meter a definite ten out of ten...and in "Bookland" ratings another brilliant 5* rating!
Highly recommend!

Lex's Melody has been on my to read list for months, in fact since it was released, and I only just got around to starting it just before the novella Melodic Minor was released (which I will be reading soon!)

The only other BDSM book I have read to date is Fifty Shades and in all honesty, I wasn't really all that taken by it so I have been kind of wary of reading others in the same kind of genre.

I have to admit I wasn't so sure on the start of Alex & Melody's relationship, I thought the way it started and progressed was a little quick - but after a couple of chapters I could just see they were meant for each other. The sexual scenes were like, so hot, and so well written, almost making you want to be in on the scene!

Alex has a hurtful past which we aren't let into immediately, but it has made him a dominant and the way he is, someone who usually runs at the first sign of becoming anything more than a Master (Lex).

Melody falls completely in love with him and changes him - though he doesn't want to admit it and he almost tears their relationship apart when he realises he is getting too close. Something tragic happens though and Alex regrets the way he has treated Mel. Will she ever forgive him, and will they have their happy ever after?

------------------------------
Again Alex's hand caressed her. Again the need burned through Mel and completely overwhelmed her. She was his. She would never deny it. She could never fight against it. No matter what, Alex Matthews owned every last inch of her.
------------------------------

This is one that made me cry, for Mel, and for Alex's past as I could relate. A definite five star read from me.
