Sebastian EX - Filthy Desire (The Onyx Club #1)

*Contains adult themes (violence, sexual abuse)
**Review by Susan

My name is Matthew Weston. Don't call me anything else, because I won't respond. And if you think you can get away with whimpering ‘Matt’ while I have you tied to the bed, about to devour you, it'll end up being your loss.
Men like me don't talk about feelings. We just don't.
What men like me do is pound. I pound the asphalt with my running shoes on morning runs. I pound a punching bag in the gym until my knuckles bleed. And when I need a release, I find a beautiful woman sprawled out on her bed, eagerly waiting for my cock, and pound her into oblivion. Yeah, that's me. I don't have feelings, and I don't do love.
At least I didn't, until the night Ella walked into my office looking like a disgusting junkie to interview for a position for The Onyx Club.
She was like no one I'd ever met before. She was timid, reserved, and quite plain with her mousy brown hair and dirty clothes. Ella also had a dark and haunted gleam in her eye. A secret, a past she was desperate to conceal.
And when she called me ‘Matt’ it didn't seem to bother me.
She came into my life and turned it upside down. The only question is, can I screw her out of my system, or will my filthy desire for her keep her by my side?

Matt...sorry Matthew (might get told off for that!) is a character I instantly disliked from the first page. Arrogant, pig headed, controlling in all aspects of his life and generally chauvinistic...but it was all a front.

Yes he's a bit of an arse at times but behind that facade, we meet a brilliant guy. Yes a man who likes some pretty rampant sex but one girl would change all that.
Would change HIM.

"I'm taking us out for lunch, no arguments. You really have to learn to just accept what I do, because it's going to happen regardless of whether you like it or not."
She shrugs and walks away. She doesn't talk much, but that's fine with me. I don't like them overly vocal.

*Cue Susan's tutting and desire to dislike of this man*
But it doesn't last long...his walls (as well as Ella's), slowly lowers and they let one another in. We see his patience, his surprising morals and sense of protectiveness over this new girl he let into his workplace, home and heart...

It's my role as her protector and later hopefully, as her Dominant, to find a way to give her what she wants and protect her at the same time.

But as he learns more about the trauma Ella endures he pieces her slowly back together. He becomes her knight in shining armour.
It was very Cinderella/pretty woman style in lavishing this "ordinary girl" into the beautiful lady we know has endured so much.

Her eyes tell such an intense story of hurt and betrayal. It's all there, behind the brown, deep inside her soul.

This book truly threw me.  From the first page I expected filth (but boy was it hot filth! :P), meaningless relationships and Matt to be the emotionally challenged man I assumed him to be. But I couldn't have been more wrong.

A hot and steam meter bursting book that will have you hooked and emotionally distraught in places but I have to commend the author for making me do a complete 180 on my opinion of Matt.

I know she'll need more time and patience because ultimately, she needs to trust in herself, to find her own power before she can willingly give it to me.
